Laish, known to his friends as Simi, was considered by Prof. Menzel to be one of the finest Canaan Dogs she ever
bred, and an example of the breed ideal. We at Shaar Hagai considered ourselves extremely fortunate when Prof. Menzel decided
to let us have him. He became the first Canaan Dog to become an Israel Ch., and his influence as a stud is extremely
important to the breed. He is found in the pedigrees of a large number of today's most successful dogs. He was a dog
with a strong temperament and unquestioned loyalty and will always remain in my mind as the image of the ideal Canaan.
